Writing Masterclasses for Schools

Nicolas Brasch, has developed three all-day Masterclasses for high school students. Together, the Masterclasses take talented writing students from creating ideas to crafting final drafts – and everything in between.

The Masterclasses are:

  • Letting ideas loose: explores the three places where ideas come from – experience, observation and imagination – with exercises designed to help students mine their imagination for ideas. Focus is on impulse and improvisation.
  • From idea to story: a 10-step guide to developing a well-structured story from an idea. Focus is on the notion of storytelling – looking at how stories have been told through the ages, and across cultures; as well as how to write a story that will engage readers.
  • Revising a story: details how to revise drafts to ensure the final draft hits the mark. Includes strategies for redrafting, and a checklist that will help students redraft stories now and in the future.

Further information:

  • The classes are stand-alone workshops, so you can choose just one of the classes or more than one to be held at different times of the year.
  • Up to 16 students per Masterclass permitted. Students can be from the same grade or be selected across grades.
  • Masterclasses are held at your school.

Each Masterclass is $880 (inc. gst) for the day. With 16 students, that’s only $55 per student.
